Dear Fellow Dog Lovers,

Maybe it’s because school is out…maybe because it’s summer…but whatever the reason, I’m thrilled to report that FOURTEEN Blog Dogs got adopted during the past week! Here they are.

Staff member Kim sent me this photo of Toffee’s new person just as they were heading home.

Play Group Chatter

The arrival of several new dogs from a California shelter made for a lively Sunday play session. We used two yards, one for the smaller dogs and one for the more rambunctious big guys. Everyone had a great time and I did overhear a few remarks.

Leave it to a California dog to come up with this idea!

Hoggie always enjoys faking everyone out.

Sometimes friendship takes a little time.

After play group, we had lunch with Hoggie. Here Sarah and I shared some quiet time under a tree with our favorite boy. Each time I say goodbye to Hoggie, I hope that he’ll be found by his forever family before I return. This week I covered his kennel with pictures of him showing off his skills, hoping the right family would see what a smart dog he is.

I’m a People Dog!

The next duo I saw was a new arrival, Flounder, walking with Richard. It was obvious right from the start that this is a dog who loves being with her person. She had already warmed up to Richard when I asked her to pose for me. As you can see from her expression, she didn’t hesitate for a second. She has a great sense of humor! Flounder does need a large and secure yard, as she enjoys going exploring on her own if she can. Flounder is six years old and is a Lab mix.

 I’ll make a great family dog—I promise!

Sarah spent some quality time today with another new arrival, Gidget, a two-year-old Basenji/Boxer mix. Sarah was very excited to tell me what a great dog Gidget is. She walks well on leash, knows several commands (sit, down, shake), and is a terrific fetch partner.

Yes, I’m back. I’m waiting for my forever home. Could it be yours?

I got to see an old friend while Kathy was walking him. This is Caller (aka Striker), a four-year-old Beagle mix who was adopted from our shelter several months ago. But his family couldn’t keep him anymore, so he is back with us, hoping for a forever home. Caller is a happy boy who loves to play and go for walks. He is looking for a Beagle-savvy family to finally call his own forever.

I know, I know. I need to lose a few pounds. Want to help me?

One of Sarah’s current favorites is Corky, a four-year-old Lab mix. Corky fully agrees that he needs to be on a diet and exercise plan. It’s just that he thinks it would be so much easier and more fun if he had his own family to exercise with. Corky is a fun-loving, affectionate, well-behaved boy who will fit well into a new family of his own.

I know my ears don’t match, but I’m a very good girl!

I took little Choji on a walk, then asked Kenzi to hold her for a photo, as I was eager to show my readers what a nice little dog this is. She walked very well on leash, although she did take a roll in the grass at one point just because it felt so good. Choji is a one-year-old Chihuahua/Dachshund mix hoping for a new family to cuddle with. She has such a pretty face!

Do you need a puppy to spice up your life? I’m it!

This is Kilowatt. Yes, that’s his name and he lives up to it in every way. Trying to snap a picture of this bundle of joy and energy was quite the challenge. Finally as he snuggled in Sarah’s arms, I took this one. Kilowatt is a three-month-old American Staffordshire mix looking for a family with a sense of humor and a lot of patience. Puppy classes at the shelter would be a great idea for this little character!

Update

Remember the Pug Brothers in my last post and how happy we all were when they were adopted together?

I was so glad to receive this followup from their new person.

Ziggy and Napoleon are doing so great! Each day I fall in love with them even more. I changed their names to Biggie, and Little Buddy. They are beginning to answer to those names now. They are super patient with me, since it has been awhile since I have had a dog. They are off to their first vet visit tomorrow. Thank you soooo much for these two wonderful boys!!

That’s it for this week. I hope you like the look of the new blog!
