Dear Fellow Dog Lovers,

Merry Christmas! The shelter dogs and their volunteer walkers have been very busy this week getting ready for this post. There has been much excitement in posing for my annual “We Wish You a Merry Christmas from Our Shelter Dogs” slide show. But first, I want to feature two very special dogs who have been waiting patiently for their forever homes. They asked me to make a movie so that people will see what wonderful dogs they are. We are so hoping they will each be adopted by Christmas. First is Piper.

I know I am boring in my kennel, but just watch me when I’m out!

Piper is a four-year-old American Staffordshire Terrier mix who is an absolute sweetheart. However, she is so quiet in her kennel, people walk right by hardly noticing her. But just wait until you see her in action! Piper is looking for a forever family with children about eight or older. She is affectionate and eager for attention and tasty treats. She likes to play and just hang out with her peeps. She will need to be the only pet in the family. Piper will make a devoted new best friend. Here she was last week in Mary’s Place.

I have been learning a LOT of stuff with my Behavior and Training Team!

Ozzie is a one-year-old Rottweiler mix who has been working hard learning new skills and is now ready to find his forever home. This boy is a happy, eager learner as long as there is cheese or other tasty treats as a reward. He is active, playful and is looking for an adult who wants a loyal partner with whom to continue his training and go on adventures. Here he is with staff trainer, Marilyn, showing off some of the things he now knows.

We Wish You a Merry Christmas!

Here is a special digital Christmas card from the WHS shelter dogs to all of you! They hope you will enjoy it.

Then there were the outtakes…

You can’t take as many dog pictures as I do without taking many, many shots that don’t make the cut for a video. And another interesting fact is that dogs become much more opinionated during outtakes. Here are a few examples…

From all of the shelter dogs who are hoping for new families by the 25th, Merry Christmas!

Remember, if you see a dog on my blog whom you are interested in meeting, try to make arrangements to get to the Willamette Humane Society soon. Some dogs are adopted more quickly than you might think.
